Additional Ministries

The Moscow United Methodist Church is committed to spreading the word of God’s unending love, and helping those in need. Here you will be able to see our current active ministries and missions. If you would like to contribute to any of our programs, please contact our church office.

We will be collecting Cleaning Kits for UMCOR to support their effort to aid those effected by the hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and wild fires. If you would like to donate a kit the instructions can be found below, a printed version is available in the Narthex of the church building. If you would prefer to make a monetary contribution, you can do so by clicking the link provided, this will take you to a website for Global Ministries. More information about UMCOR can be found below as well.

Collecting aluminum tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Scranton, PA

We believe in all the good the Ronald McDonald house does for local families who are in a difficult time in their lives. This organization is solely funded by donations from individuals, businesses, and corporations. They help keep families close to their sick and injured child who is in a local hospital. You can find more about this organization on their website. We collect soda tabs for them, which they are able to recycle for money.

Collecting crochet and knit hats for local labor and delivery units.

We collect handmade hats for Geisinger CMC as a way to spread love and warmth with newborns and their families. We request that you use soft yarn for the delicate heads of these precious newborns. Any pattern can be used, but we have included a knit and a crochet pattern for those who would like to use them.

We will also be accepting yarn for those who would like to contribute but do not knit or crochet. The most commonly used yarn is size 4, or “worsted weight”, but any of the yarns labeled for babies can also be used, as long as it is not bulky weight.

Bags to Benches

We are currently trying to collect 500 pounds of plastic to be recycled into an outdoor bench. This is a great way to keep plastic out of landfills and ending up as litter.

To tell if something is acceptable you can use this test: if you pull on the material and it stretches, it can be recycled with this program, if it tears like paper it cannot be used. If the plastic is shiny and makes a loud crinkling noise (like a chip bag or floral wrap), it will not be accepted.
